Attendees of this session will have the opportunity to openly learn and discuss strategies used in teaching preclinic to our most beginning learners. Included in the discussion will be various methods and approaches used in teaching and assessing probing, exploring, elementary scaling and ultrasonic techniques and other components of patient care. This course is tailored for clinic coordinators of a pre-clinic course, rather than for clinical instructors.

Objectives:

• Discuss strategies used in teaching preclinic lecture
• Evaluate methods and approaches used for teaching new dental hygiene learners including calibrating with your clinical instructors
• Discuss challenges faced with leading preclinic and possible solutions
