Objectives:

• Discuss concept of “Special Needs Patients” and importance in the Dental Hygiene Curriculum.
• Identify different ways to teach the concepts of special needs patients for hygiene students.
• Review teaching strategies for in-class and on-line assignments that may be effective for teaching about special needs patients.
• Identify sources that can be used to increase awareness of how to treat special needs patients.
