Description

This course provides dental hygiene clinical educators with a comprehensive overview of CODA Dental Hygiene Standards 4, 5, and 6, with emphasis on facilities, health and safety provisions, and quality assurance practices in the clinical setting. Participants will examine how these standards guide clinical evaluation processes, resource utilization, infection control, and risk management.

Clinical educators will gain a clear understanding of their role in supporting continuous program improvement, maintaining accreditation compliance, and ensuring safe, effective, and ethical clinical learning environments.

Objectives:

  • Describe the purpose and scope of CODA Dental Hygiene Standards 4, 5, and 6 and their role in ensuring program effectiveness, resource adequacy, and patient safety.
  • Recognize clinical faculty responsibilities related to patient care facilities and safety including infection control, radiography, and emergency preparedness.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and documentation expectations related to quality assurance and patient safety that support accreditation and risk management.
  • Identify common areas of noncompliance associated with Standards 4, 5, and 6 and implement strategies to prevent accreditation deficiencies in the clinical setting.
